This integrated approach enables Gatic to deliver projectspecific solutions while maintaining consistently high levels of quality and reliability.

Sustainability is a key focus at the Halstead facility. The site incorporates onsite solar panels to support renewable energy generation and features electric vehicle charging points to encourage loweremission transport. Alongside these initiatives, manufacturing practices are designed to promote responsible resource use and long product life, supporting effective water management and more resilient infrastructure with reduced maintenance demands.

The Halstead facility also plays an important role in customer support, acting as a hub for technical guidance and specialist knowledge. By combining manufacturing excellence, sustainable practices, and continuous improvement, the Gatic Halstead site underpins the company’s reputation as a trusted partner for architects, specifiers, contractors, and infrastructure owners.

Technology

Gatic manufactures its access covers and Slotdrain systems at its Halstead, Essex facility using advanced CNC machining and precision metalworking technology designed for heavyduty, safetycritical infrastructure products. Central to this capability is the use of highperformance Mazak multitasking CNC machines, combining milling, turning and drilling in a single, tightly controlled process. Within this manufacturing context, there are only five Mazak machines in the UK, three of which are owned and operated by Gatic, including the Mazak 800 and 600 model variants.

The Mazak 800 and 600 machines are largeformat, multiaxis machining centres designed for complex components and long production runs. Their multitasking capability allows Gatic to machine ductile iron and steel components in one setup, reducing handling, minimising cumulative error, and ensuring consistent repeatability. Advanced spindle control, rigid construction and thermal stability enable exceptionally smooth surface finishes and high dimensional accuracy.

These machines are capable of achieving very tight tolerances, typically in the range of 0.25mm, which is critical for ensuring precise fitment, load performance and durability of access covers. This level of precision supports Gatic’s ability to deliver compliant, highquality products for demanding industrial and urban environments.
